Isale Eko stage play is a romantic play on historical facts allowing the sitting of a fictional romantic tale on true and highly verifiable occurrences.
The play tells a story of the love story between the fiery and aggressive Prince Kosoko of Lagos and a very beautiful and nubile Princess of Bini Kingdom, who was taken away into slavery by slave raiders. This unfortunate incident draws the very powerful Benin monarch into the intrigues and power struggles of 14th century Isale Eko kingdom.
The wonderfully scripted stage play was directed by the award winning
Director- William Benson, giving it a new lease of life. Same play but told differently in to an excited audience on stage- Theatre style with an effective use of melodious songs, dance sequences and period costumes.
