Under the new leadership of the Group Managing Director of NNPC- Dr. M. k. Baru a cheery news is received from the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), the Exploration and Production (E&P) arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its’ main Technical Service Provider, Century Energy Services Limited, a subsidiary of Century Group, as they achieve operational safety milestone of 1000 days without Lost Time Injury (LTI) 1st April, 2017 on their Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel called The Mystras.
Commenting on the feat, the MD, NPDC – Mr. Yusuf Matashi, thanked the crew on board the FPSO Mystras, staff and management of CESL. He said the crew had done very well by not compromising on the safety standards that has kept them safe and that it was another laudable achievement by the NNPC Brand.
The Group Chief Executive (GCEO) of Century Group Mr. Ken Etete said the Company was able to achieve the safety milestone because of management’s commitment to safety procedures which was uncompromised and top notch. He said:
Our employees, contractors and vendors that provide services to us were responsible for the achievement because they complied strictly with our safety rules which is in line with international and industry best practices/standards. Without their contributions, we would not be able to achieve this.
The Corporate Affairs Manager of Century Group- Data Jaja also noted that the cordial relationship with the host communities ensured peaceful co-existence and successful operations. Therefore, the safety feat is also a celebration of the contributions from our host communities, she added.
The GCEO of Century Group commended the support and encouragement of the Board of NNPC and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru. According to him, without their support and exemplary leadership, the Nigerian companies wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to showcase their capabilities and expertise. This safety milestone is a testament to what Nigerian firms can do and a boost to Nigerian content.
The Century Group Chief said: “Today the 1st of April, 2017, the Nigerian content drive got another boost with the NPDC in partnership with CESL achieving 1000 days of operation without incident on our FPSO Mystras, which produces the Okono field and evacuates output from Okpoho field, both in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 119, the only Offshore Asset exclusively owned and solely operated by NNPC, besides the JV and PSC’s that are jointly operated by IOC’s. NNPC has achieved this using 100 per cent local capacity and company – Century Group and we thank the Corporation for keeping to their words on local content commitment and believing in us.
He continued: “NNPC’s swift implementation of the government’s local content initiative saw to the official takeover of Mystras FPSO by Century Group on 1st June 2011.
